Effective date: October 21, 2026 · Version: 1.0
This notice explains the cookies and analytics used on nearbidly.com and on auction pages run on Nearbidly. It supplements our Privacy Policy.
1. The short version
- No third-party analytics. We run our own analytics. We don't use Google Analytics, PostHog or any third-party analytics script.
- Pseudonymous data only. Analytics data is tied to random IDs. We never store your name, email, phone number or full IP address with it.
- Opting out. You can opt out of analytics at any time (section 5).
- Advertising cookies. The Meta Pixel loads only if the business running the auction has turned it on and you accept advertising cookies. It is off by default for health-related businesses.
2. Cookies we use
| Cookie / storage | Type | What it does | Lasts |

nb_staff, nb_portal, nb_superadmin | Necessary | Sign-in for Nearbidly staff and business owners (app.nearbidly.com only) | Session, or up to 12 hours |
| Bot check (Cloudflare Turnstile) | Necessary | Tells people from bots and protects bidding | Short-lived |
nb_anon | Analytics (first-party, host-only) | A random ID that links page views in one browser so we can measure registration and bidding steps | Up to 13 months |
nb_analytics_optout | Preference | Remembers that you opted out of analytics | Up to 13 months |
nb_consent | Preference | Remembers your cookie-banner choice | Up to 13 months |
Meta Pixel (_fbp, _fbc) | Advertising (third-party, only with your consent) | Lets the business measure its Meta (Facebook and Instagram) ads | As set by Meta |
3. How our analytics work
When you use an auction page, your browser sends small event messages to our own address, /api/e, on the same website. Examples of events: "viewed auction page", "started registration", "placed bid", "viewed bid sheet". Our servers also record events such as bids, pledges, alerts sent and purchases.
What we keep:
- the event name and time;
- the auction and business it relates to;
- the random
nb_anonID, or a scrambled code derived from your bidder account; - which page version you saw, if we were testing an improvement;
- how you arrived (for example, an ad or link campaign code);
- coarse location (country and region);
- device type.
What we never keep in analytics: your name, email, phone number, street address, or full IP address. We shorten the IP address to work out a rough location, then discard it. Our systems also automatically reject and scan for anything that looks like an email or phone number.
Why we use analytics:
- to see where people get stuck;
- to measure auction results for the business running the auction;
- to keep the Service secure;
- to test better page layouts and wording.
Results are also combined across auctions in aggregate to improve the Service. One business never sees another business's customers.
How long we keep it: raw analytics events are deleted after 25 months. Aggregated statistics with no identifiers may be kept longer.
Bots: suspected bot traffic is flagged and excluded from results.
4. Advertising measurement (Meta)
If the business running the auction has enabled Meta advertising measurement and you choose "Accept" for advertising cookies in our banner:
- the Meta Pixel loads on the auction page;
- our servers may send Meta limited event information (registered, purchased and similar) with your email or phone in hashed (scrambled) form, so the business can measure its ads.
Health-related businesses: for businesses such as dental, orthodontic, medical, chiropractic, mental health and veterinary practices, this is off by default, and we never send details describing a treatment or condition.
You can change your choice at any time from the "Cookie settings" link in the page footer.
5. Your choices
- Opting out of analytics: use the "Opt out of analytics" button on this page, or the link in our footer. Your browser will then stop sending analytics events. (Security events and records needed to run the auction, such as your bids, are still kept.)
- Advertising cookies: decline them in the banner, or change your choice later.
- Global Privacy Control: if your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as an opt-out of advertising cookies and of sale or sharing. We also honor "Do Not Track" for advertising measurement.
- Browser settings: you can block or delete cookies in your browser. Blocking necessary cookies may stop you from signing in or bidding.
